Back to nature!
Not far from Sibiu, at the bottom of the Carpathians, there lays a picturesque area with idyllic villages, valleys, pastures, forests and freshwater springs. A trip to this area is like a wonderful dream that stays in your heart forever.
Beyond the enchanting landscape, you’ll be fascinated by the wonderful habitants and their stories.
The inhabitants in these villages lived hard times, but they were wise and hardworking. Breeding animals (especially large flock of sheep) has always been their main occupation.
They were also skilled craftsmen… Even today, some of them keep preserving these customs and are always happy to share their secrets.
We invite you to a relaxing tour in this area with a visit to a traditional sheepfold. We’ll try some local products based on meat and cheese, all prepared and cooked at the sheepfold. That will be a delicious experience!
This tour comes perfectly as Sibiu has in 2019 European Region of Gastronomy. We’ll have a nice tour in the old town, learn about is history and cultural diversity. It is a great occasion to learn more about Transylvania and its rich heritage and multiculturalism.
The tour will start in Sibiu with a walking tour and after you will discover picturesque villages and a traditional sheepfold.
You will also visit Cisnădioara, the oldest fortress in Transylvania and have a great view of the surroundings before the drive back to Sibiu.
