At Beyond Romania we offer a range of short tours and day-long tours.
The diverse wildlife and the spectacular landscapes combined with the heritage of Saxon villages make these tours the ideal choice for people enjoying a short stay in Romania.
This tour sets off early in the morning (don’t worry, not too early!) as there is a lot to pack into the day. This tour involves a deluxe carriage ride or horse ride – a really enjoyable way to take in the sights. First stop is in Sighișoara, a beautiful medieval town that was, according to legends, the birthplace and home of the notorious Vlad the Impaler.
Next stop is a small old Saxon village called Apos, where we will visit a Ceramic Roof Tiles craftsman. From here we will head to Richis, where Mr. Schass, the ‘last of the Saxons’ in the village – will be waiting for us with some fascinating stories. By now we will have worked up an appetite, so lunch will be prepared with traditional, locally sourced food paired with a glass of local wine.
√ The tour is available for small groups of 2-10 people
√ As an alternative, we can organise a short carriage ride and visit a traditional sheepfold.

Are you ready for a taste of Romanian culture? This is a fun-filled, hands-on tour that involves learning Saxon baking crafts and participating in other interesting activities. We’ll also listen to some fascinating stories about the fortified church (and many other landmarks) in Altana and visit a small private Ethnographic Museum.
There will be a horse and carriage waiting to take us onto the hills where beautiful scenery awaits. The carriage ride will stop at the sheepfold so we can taste some homemade dairy products before we move on and visit a coal mine – a unique Transylvanian experience!
